The Dells — Passionate Breezes: The Best Of The Dells 1975-1991 (1995)

By the last half of the \’70s, the Dells had already gone through two phases in their career, transfog themselves from an R&B vocal group into a smooth soul outfit and scoring hits in both incarnations. During the late \’70s and \’80s, the group continued to perform, usually in the same vein as their early-\’70s hits. Even if the strength of their voices hadn\’t diminished, their audience had. Nevertheless, much of the material they recorded during this era was fine, as Passionate Breezes: Best of 1975-1991 proves. It\’s not as compulsively listenable as the group\’s doo wop hits or their early-\’70s material, but there is still enough first-rate music here to satisfy fans.
